PARTNERSHIP AND FAMILY VISAS

Partnership and Family Visas

We assist partners and family members of New Zealand citizens, residents, or work visa holders to stay in New Zealand through a variety of visa options. Whether you're seeking a visitor, work, or residence visa, we guide you through every step of the process.

Partnership Visas

There are three main types of Partnership Visas:

  1. Visitor Visa: Short-term visa for those visiting their partners in New Zealand.

  2. Work Visa: For those who want to work while living with their partner.

  3. Resident Visa: Long-term visa after living with your partner for 12 months or more.

We specialize in upgrading existing visitor or work visas to resident visas for long-term stays.

Family Visas

  1. Dependent Child Visa: Allows children of New Zealand residents or citizens to live and study in New Zealand.

  2. Parent Resident Visa: Enables parents of New Zealand citizens or residents to join their children permanently in New Zealand.

General Requirements for Partnership and Family Visas

When applying for partnership and family visas in New Zealand, applicants must meet specific general requirements. These requirements ensure that the relationship or family connection is genuine and that all applicants are of good character and health. Here's a breakdown of the general requirements across these visa categories:

1. Relationship Proof
  • Genuine and Stable Relationship: You must provide evidence that your relationship is genuine, stable, and committed. This includes proof of living together, shared financial responsibilities, and social recognition of your relationship (e.g., shared bills, photos, joint accounts, or rental agreements).

  • Living Together: For most partnership visas, especially the resident visa, couples are required to have lived together for 12 months or more.

2. Financial Requirements
  • Sufficient Funds: You or your partner must demonstrate that you have sufficient financial resources to support yourself while in New Zealand. This can be proven through bank statements, employment contracts, or your partner’s income.

  • Dependent Support: For family visas, the applicant's sponsor must show that they can financially support their dependents for the duration of their stay.

3. Health and Character Checks
  • Medical Certificates: Applicants must undergo a medical examination and provide a chest X-ray to ensure they meet New Zealand’s health standards.

  • Police Certificates: All applicants over a certain age must provide police certificates from their home country and any other country they have lived in for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. This ensures they meet character requirements.

4. Sponsorship Requirements
  • Eligible Sponsor: The sponsor must be a New Zealand citizen or resident, and in the case of family visas, must meet the required sponsorship criteria. For example, the sponsor must have sufficient income or financial stability to support the applicant during their stay in New Zealand.

  • Legal and Moral Obligations: Sponsors need to ensure that their partner or family member abides by the terms of their visa and can maintain their financial wellbeing during their stay.

5. Intent to Comply with Visa Conditions
  • Visitor Visa Applicants: You must demonstrate your intent to return to your home country at the end of your visa, especially when applying for temporary visas like the visitor visa.

  • Long-Term Intent: For work or residence visas, you must show that your intention is to stay and work in New Zealand in line with your visa’s conditions.

By ensuring you meet these general requirements, you will increase the chances of a successful visa application under the partnership and family categories in New Zealand.
